The Tireless Work of Agronomists

Agronomy is a profession that knows no rest. Every day, teams assemble at 4 a.m. to discuss the goals for the day. Peak season or slow season, agronomists work tirelessly in hot summer weather to top-dress, core, Verti cut, aerate, amend the soil, seed, sod, sand, drain, weed, and more, all while keeping their impact on the environment in mind. Their hard work and dedication pay off, as it keeps our grounds and courses looking pristine and award-winning every day.

Unpredictable Weather, Undeterred Agronomists

Our agronomists in South Florida are a proud and optimistic bunch, always ready to take on the challenge of unpredictable weather. Summertime is scorching and humid, yet they remain undeterred, prepared to face lightning-filled downpours one minute and sunshine and rainbows the next. Their skill, efficiency, and preparation ensure that the grounds and safety are always handled.

Aerification and Verti-Cutting

Agronomy is a field of expertise that requires a great deal of knowledge and skill, but two processes that can be better understood are Aerification and Verti-Cutting. Aerification involves using a machine to create holes in the turf to allow air, water, and nutrients to be absorbed by the soil at the root level and to open up spaces for new growth. Verti-Cutting involves using a machine to remove dead grass and roots from previous mowing, enabling the turf to absorb more moisture and nutrients.

Golf Cart Safety

The organization takes immense pride in ensuring the safety of its staff. It has rigorous protocols to protect them, including golf cart safety, equipment safety, CPR and AED training, heat-related injury or illness prevention, and instructions on reporting an incident. The organization’s commitment to making sure its people are safe is unwavering.

Agronomists play a significant role in keeping golf courses in top condition. Through their expertise in crop and soil science, combined with an understanding of rules, irrigation, parasite control, fertilizer, and green maintenance, they build beautiful pastures all year round, no matter the weather conditions. Above all, they keep golfers playing to a high standard so they may rest assured that their game is one they enjoy for the years to come.
